Better Safe Than Sorry

...as my grandmother would always say.

In the interest of the safety of my children and home, I have deleted all actual names from my blog. Sad, I know, but necessary, in my opinion.

In honor of my husband's family tradition, we will now be known as:

The King
The Queen
The Prince
The Princess

(humble, aren't we?)

Tick...Tick...Tick

That's the sound of the clock of my life ticking away at a seemingly advanced pace. It was difficult for me to believe that an entire week has passed since my last blog post! It's just been that kind of week!

Cleaning:
I spent this week giving the upstairs of my home a DEEP cleaning--dusting, scrubbing, and vacuuming. I am sad to report that I am so out of shape that this type of activity was enough to give me sore muscles--BUT we are sparkling clean up here! My sewing area is included in the upstairs and part of my deep clean was a reorganization of my fabrics! I LOVE these bins!

What else are cardboard fabric bolts supposed to be used for?

Parenting:
We have entered the four-year-old, strongly independent phase with The Prince. Let me just say that it has been a doozy of a week and I am EXHAUSTED! This phase happened to come on during a time when he had a nasty chest cough that was keeping him (and me) up half the night. I'm no child behavior specialist, but I think this may have added to our joint frustration.

We are once again tackling potty training with The Princess. I mean, she IS three-years-old now! It has been going better than past attempts, but I'd say we have a ways to go.

Sewing:
I'm finishing King and Queen costumes for the Lil Peas Bippity, Boppity, Boo launch this coming Thursday. I have four custom sets to complete and TWO launches I am planning for coming up later in August....whew!

Relationships:
...and, OH YEAH, I celebrated my 12 year anniversary this week--love ya, honey!

Now you know where I've been!

The Prince's Turn

The Prince has shown a serious interest in taking pictures, so I thought I'd post a few. These were taken with my camera (under close supervision) while in various airports on our way home from vacation. He was so serious about the whole thing, we dug out the old digital camera and have been letting him use it when he's in the mood to snap a few pics. He was quite the photography director at The Princess' birthday:

"Good!"
"Don't Move"
"Right There"
"Now, look at me"

Needless to say the family was getting quite the chuckle. He kept following his Aunt E. around so he could copy her angles--LOL!! Unfortunately, we've yet to locate the cable for that camera so that I can upload those pics to the computer....I may have to take the memory card into the store and upload them to a CD.

Anyway, here's a few from my camera. Let me add that from taking the camera, to picking his "subject," to zooming, to focusing--these are COMPLETELY taken by The Prince!

It's in the Job Description...

...section 5, paragraph 3....All dad's must teach their children how to ride their bikes--right?

Are we having fun, yet? (um, no)

Weeellll, that's what I told my sweet husband when it was time to take The Princess out on the Princess bike she received for her birthday (from us, I might add). She was fitted out in the matching Princess helmet and pads (courtesy of Grandma and Grandpa), and BOY, was she ready to ride a bike just like her big brother!

Looking for some pointers from The Prince.

Unfortunately, it didn't go quite as planned in Daddy and The Princess' mind--she was pretty much pushed the entire time--except for the MANY times when she pedaled backwards, thereby applying the brakes......*sigh*

Try again.....

I had to remind my children's diligent father that it took The Prince 4 or 5 lessons to START understanding how to ride a bike---AND he had just turned 4!!! The Princess just turned 3, so I think she's due a learning curve.....plus WHATEVER!!! Who cares if she can't pedal--she looks so stinkin' cute (in my humble Mommy's opinion).

Look at that face!

A Fave

This set is one of my favorites! I think it's the style of the dress and the fabrics. Having a three-piece set like this makes it wearable from now all the way into winter--BUUTTTT, it was quite the experience trying to get pictures of all the different possibilities!! The Princess was a trooper (I think it was the promise of her favorite fruit pop)!

You can find my set HERE.

You can find the bows HERE.

Up and At 'Em!

My vacation was wonderful, but I am back at "work." HERE is my newest listing! We're not big on the scary Halloween thing, so for the Bowbellas launch, I created this three piece candy corn set. The pants were my first attempt at knit, and since The Princess loved them so much (she wouldn't take them off), I'll be doing more knit sets in the future.

I paired up with cherries*on*top and her bows are AWESOME! I loved them so much, I had to buy them!! You can find them HERE!

FREE SHIPPING (on my set) if you tell me you saw it on my blog!

How Time Flies!

Three years ago, today, our little girl entered our world. It's hard to believe that she is 3 already! Time seems to go by so quickly when it comes to lives of our children! The Princess is a ray of sunshine in our life. She is so happy and has the greatest sense of humor! Her imagination amazes us. She is very nurturing and loves her big brother! We can't imagine our lives without her!

Here's a little trip down memory lane:

Waiting at the hospital for my room---I know, I'm HUGE!

Just waiting for the Dr. to show up--I was READY!

Here she is--8 lbs 9 oz!!

Our new family!

Ready to go home!

Birthday breakfast today--yes, ice cream for breakfast on our birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PRINCESS!

We're Home!

We are back, and as they say, "I need a vacation after my vacation!" We are tired and the house is covered in laundry and vacation purchases, BUT we had the BEST time! I have much to do, but here is just a small sampling of my favorite pictures! I'll make a little "photo album" when I have the time!

We were able to park right next to the ocean!

My beach baby! She LOVED the ocean!

He thought he'd like the ocean, but he preferred the sand.

The Princess and Uncle Joe--I love this picture!

Eating some lunch--the sun makes you hungry!

The National Museum of Natural History

The Prince LOVED all the dinosaurs!

One of the things the kids remembered from the movie,
"Night at the Museum"

Bubbles, Curls, and A Big Ol' Apple

Bubbles....

What is it about bubbles? Why are they so fun? The sun decided to come out for a while yesterday, and I took the kids out for some bubble fun. Daddy had bought a fun, battery-powered dinosaur that spits out bubbles....I even took a turn!

Curls....

You may remember the failed curls attempt. Well, we got it right today! She SO wanted curls in her hair that she sat still while I put all the curlers in and played carefully until I took them out. For her SUPER straight hair, I kept the hair dry and sprayed hairspray on it before rolling it. Then, I used the hair dryer to heat them up a bit. Her hair was VERY curly and she LOVED it. She sat at her little play make-up table and had a ball. However, with the humidity (and her SUPER straight hair) the curls started to droop within the hour and were gone by the end of her nap.

A Big Ol' Apple...
We are taking our first, true vacation with the kids to New York. The King's family lives on Long Island and we'll be staying with them. We'll make some trips to the beach and, of course, into The City! I'll post pics when we return!

Happy Birthday---Already?

The Princess' birthday isn't until the 15th, but we had playgroup at our house today. We've been in the same playgroup since before she was born and whoever has a birthday around a scheduled play date hosts the group for a little party.

She was very excited that she was going to have a party and asked about her Dora dress. Hmmm....I hadn't planned on making the birthday outfit until the BIRTHDAY. However, being the super-mom that I am, I stayed up quite late to complete her birthday set. It was worth it (as always) for the look on her face when she saw it this morning.

I plan on listing this set later this month, but am going to offer it here on my blog first! If you are interested click HERE for more pictures and information.
